Course Assistant: 2026-2027 Two Summer, In-Person 0-3 Diploma Course

Overview of Position

The course assistant works under the direction of the 0-3 Director of Training to support all aspects of the AMI 0-3 diploma, teacher training course. The Course Assistant is present as an experienced practitioner of the Montessori for children from birth to three and serves continuously as an embodied model for the practice and philosophy of Montessori.

Qualifications

• AMI 0-3 Diploma
• Teaching experience in an AMI Birth to Three classroom
• Commitment to the mission and principles of AMI and MINT
• Facility with technology including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.); the Populi Learning Management System; Google Sheets, Docs, and Sites; and the ability to use and create spreadsheets
• Utilize initiative and resourcefulness in service of others
• Ability to multi-task and interact positively and effectively with MINT students and staff
• Excellent time management skills and keen attention to detail
• High level organizational skills with both digital and paper mediums
• Steady, even-keeled, compassionate demeanor
• Authentic, embodied modeling of grace and courtesy
• Skill and confidence in material making, including sewing, papercrafts, painting, woodworking, etc.
• Ability to support discussion groups and sing with trainees

Responsibilities

• Ensure the preparation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the complete 0-3 Prepared Environments, including all necessary manufactured and handmade materials.
• Collaborate with and support the Trainer in delivering the course.
• Attend all course sessions and track student attendance, student course paperwork completion, and student assignment completion.
• Assist Trainer in coordinating in-person infant observations.
• Coordinate student responsibilities for care of the environments.
• Participate in group discussions and breakouts as appropriate.
• Support minor student technical support needs.
• Assist Trainer in tracking practice teaching assignments.
• Assist with Album Reader communications and dynamics, including reading student work as needed.
• Ensure the Course reflects MINT’s non-discrimination policy and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
• Support Course office hours, PLCs, and workshops throughout the 2026-2027 term as needed.
• Support the examination process.
• Support and assist with MINT’s community outreach activities, info sessions, and events, including graduation and celebrations.
• Work collaboratively and communicate respectfully with all MINT Trainers, Faculty, Administrative Staff, and the Board of Directors to support MINT programs and advance MINT’s mission.

• Navigate a position and relationships that place one “between” the trainer and students
• Direct all student issues to the Director of Training
