Position Title: Toddler Extended Day Morning Assistant
Job Description: GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The TED Morning Toddler Assistant assists in maintaining the prepared environment, supports the work of the Toddler Guide, and works collaboratively with the Guide to support each student’s optimal growth and development.
JOB SCOPE
The TED Morning Toddler Assistant is responsible for maintaining the required Minimum Standards and Guidelines for state childcare licensing, maintaining the classroom environment per AMI standards, supporting the work of the Toddler Guide in the classroom, and working collaboratively with the Guide(s) to support each child in reaching his/her full potential. This is a year-round position that supports a lead worker and works in collaboration with the afternoon TED Guide and Assistant team to nurture the development of the children in the classroom. This position works directly with students and parents, closely with the Director of Toddler, and occasionally with the Health Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Maintains the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services Minimum Standards
and Guidelines, and required records for such, including completion of professional
development hours and trainings.
● Works cooperatively with the Toddler Guide and supports the Guides’ work in the classroom.
● Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the Prepared Environment.
● ls responsible for the daily cleaning and disinfecting of all areas of the classroom.
● Works with the Guide to implement the expectations for behavior in the classroom and foster
each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
● Shares the responsibility for the safety and well-being of all students.
● Takes the lead in the classroom when the Guide is absent.
● Assists with arrival procedures.
● Facilitates the toilet learning process in the classroom, as directed by the Guide.
● Works with individual and small groups of children as directed by the Guide.
● Assists with naptime, as needed.
● Makes, refreshes, and replenishes classroom materials and supplies.
● Helps to maintain current, accurate classroom records, including state licensing files and
records, per Guide’s direction.
● Shares the responsibility of reporting any and all accidents/incidents at once, completing the required Toddler Incident Report, and communicating details of incident to appropriate
contacts.
● Shares the responsibility for execution of all emergency drills.
● Participates in an annual review process that includes classroom observations, self-reflection, goal setting, and performance review.
● Strives in all areas to exhibit the behaviors and expectations outlined in the Staff Handbook
under Alcuin Standards of Faculty Excellence.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
● Attends community and/or parent education events as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
● Other tasks, as assigned by the Head of School or Director of Toddler.
Requirements:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Required:
● Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
● Must pass Criminal Background Checks and Drug Testing
● High school diploma or higher
● CPR/First Aid training
● Experience working with young children
● Team player with good communication skills
● High level of integrity and dependability
Preferred:
● Four-year degree
● Some experience with Microsoft Office Suite apps preferred
● Spanish speaking

PAY RANGE
Pay is based on experience and is competitive with Independent Schools in the Dallas, Texas area.
WORK SCHEDULE
Generally, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m., year-round, with very occasional afternoon/evening responsibilities for events and professional development, and monthly all-staff meetings. The program is closed for federal holidays, Thanksgiving Break, two weeks for Winter Break, Spring Break, and one week at the end of July. This position also includes three weeks of flexible vacation time.
WORK CONDITIONS
• Occasionally lifts classroom supplies/equipment/children weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach for extended periods of time daily
• Works in standard classroom conditions
• Works outdoors in various weather conditions supervising children
