AMI Montessori Associate Teacher | Provident Montessori School | San Francisco, CA

Organization: Provident Montessori School

Location: San Francisco, CA

Position Title: AMI Montessori Associate Teacher

Job Description: About Us
Provident Montessori School is a small, community-oriented Montessori program in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, founded by an AMI-trained husband-and-wife team. We serve children from two to six and a half years across our Young Children's Community and Casa classrooms, nurturing independence, curiosity, concentration, and a lifelong love of learning through authentic Montessori practice.

About the Position
Provident Montessori School is seeking a Montessori Certified Junior Teacher for our Casa classroom. This is a hybrid role between our Assistant and Lead Guide positions: the Junior Teacher works alongside an established Lead Guide, taking on real teaching responsibility: giving lessons, leading small groups, and building relationships with children and families, while also providing day-to-day classroom support. We see this as a genuine three-to-five-year pathway toward independently leading a Casa classroom.

Our ideal candidate holds an AMI Primary Diploma (required) and a Bachelor's degree or higher, with a strong appetite to learn from an experienced guide and grow into classroom leadership. Prior experience with 3-to-6-year-olds is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities
- Give individual and small-group lessons under supervision, with growing independence across the curriculum
- Support children's learning with Montessori materials throughout the day
- Record observations of children's activities and progress
- Build relationships with families at drop-off and pick-up
- Participate in parent/teacher conferences alongside the Lead Guide
- Prepare and maintain the classroom environment
- Collaborate with staff and contribute to staff meetings
- Supervise outdoor play time

Qualifications
- AMI Diploma for Early Childhood (3–6), or in the final stages of completing one
Bachelor's degree or higher
- 12 ECE semester units (the AMI Diploma may meet this requirement)
- Criminal and background clearance
- Able to lift 40 lbs
- Up-to-date on required immunizations

Compliance (California Title 22)
Employment is conditional on meeting California Community Care Licensing (Title 22) requirements, including Live Scan fingerprinting with DOJ/FBI and CACI clearance, TB clearance, Mandated Reporter training, and pediatric CPR/First Aid certification.

Benefits
Competitive pay commensurate with experience; 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental coverage; HSA with employer match; 401(k) with 3% employer match; paid holidays, paid time off and bereavement leave; ongoing Montessori mentorship with a genuine pathway to a Lead Teacher role.
