MINT is proud to offer the AMI 6–12 Blended Diploma Course, a comprehensive exploration of Montessori education for elementary-aged children. This innovative format integrates online learning with limited in-person sessions in Nashville, Tennessee, creating a rich, immersive, and flexible learning experience. Participants engage in audio-video lectures, group discussions, hands-on activities, and personalized assignments, all designed to support professional growth and a deep understanding of Montessori principles.

During the distance portions of the course, students should expect approximately 10–15 hours per week of coursework outside the live online sessions. Assignments are submitted monthly, allowing participants flexibility to pace their work throughout the month.

Synchronous & Asynchronous Lecture Block 1
15 September, 2026 – 19 May, 202725 meetings × 2 hours = 50 hours of synchronous content
Tuesday night synchronous online sessions are held 6:00–8:00 p.m. Central Time via Zoom. The Learning Management System (LMS) is Populi.
During the distance portion of the course, students typically meet once per week, approximately three Tuesdays each month. -
Content Activities Via Weekend Workshops Block 1
4 hours
Two meetings across the first distance block at 2 hours each, one required
(9 January, 2027; one optional date TBD) -
In Person Block 1 Nashville
June 2, 2027 – July 2, 2027
First week: Wednesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (21 hours)
Remaining weeks: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (140 hours)
Total: 161 hours of lectures and supervised practicals.

14 September, 2027 – 25 May, 202822 meetings × 2 hours each = 44 hours of synchronous content.
Tuesday night synchronous online sessions are 6:00–8:00 p.m. Central Time. Meetings are via Zoom. LMS is Populi.
During the distance portion of the course, students typically meet once per week, approximately three Tuesdays each month. -
Content Activities Via Weekend Workshops Block 2
4 hours:
Two meetings across the second distance block at 2 hours each, one required
(2 October, 2027; one optional date TBD) -
Students are expected to complete 100 hours of Observation and 120 hours of Practice Teaching during the intervening academic years.
Observation includes 10 hours Primary and 90 hours Elementary.
Individualized dates.
Observation is typically completed during the first year of the course, with Practice Teaching during the second year. Placements require proposals approved by the training team before students begin. -
In Person Block 2 Nashville
1 June, 2028 – 15 July, 2028
Dates include Oral Exams and Graduation.
First week: Thursday and Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (14 hours)
Remaining weeks: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (175 hours)
189 hours lecture and supervised practicals total.

Supervised Practicals consist of practice supervised by staff on site, 140 hours minimum.
An additional 15 hours of virtual practice is built into the course. Dates and times to be scheduled.

Oral Exam Reviews: 22, 23, 25 May, 2028
Oral Exams: 9 July – 14 July, 2028

Meet the Trainer
Virginia Viscovic, M.A.
Virginia Viscovic holds diplomas at both the AMI Primary and Elementary levels, is trained in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Levels I and II, and is a Montessori coach. She is a Consultant at the Elementary level for AMI/USA and also serves as a member of the Consultation Committee. Virginia holds a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. in Education/Child and Family Studies from SUNY Stony Brook in New York. She is both a national and external examiner for AMI and serves as the Elementary Director of Training at MINT.
Virginia brings a wide range of school experience from more than twenty-five years in the classroom, including corporate, private, and public school programs. While she has also served in school administration and on the boards of Montessori schools, Virginia is most passionate about supporting children and the adults who serve them, both in training and beyond.
